Introduction to Oncology

This is a one day training.
This course is an introduction to oncology. An detailed overview will be given of:
- CORNER STONES of ONCOLOGY - History, Prior cancer treatments, Vital functions, Histopathological assessment, Grading, Staging
- CANCER SYMPTOMS
- DIAGNOSIS
- HISTORY TAKING & PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
- DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING STUDIES (X-rays; CT scans; radionuclide bone scans, MRI, Ultrasound, ...)
- LABORATORY TESTS
- BIOPSY
- CLINICAL EVALUATION OF THE PATIENT AND THEIR TUMOUR (prognosis, treatment, staging, grading and typology of cancer)
- TREATMENT PRINCIPLES IN CANCER (treatment goals, treatment philosophy, therapeutic options)
This course can be followed by additional training focusing on specific therapeutic fields
